Migrate Linux Virtual Machine to ESXi

Hi All,

I have VMware Server 1 base on CentOS as OS with few Virtual Machines, the Virtual Machines locate on my storage map with NFS.

I start convert these virtual machines with vmware converter 4.0 beta, I convert it to ESXi, the virtual machine move to the same storage but with iSCSI.

Till now i only convert Windows machines without a problem, now i am trying to convert Linux machine (ContOS 5),

After the convert i am trying to power the machine on but get a "Kernel Panic"

Failed to mounting the SYSROOT.

Please see attach.

Till i'll find a solution i back with this virtual machine to the old vmware server 1 and there it's working.

Any Idea?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am talking about the VM's SCSI controller, you can get to know that by this process.

1) Select the VM.

2) Right click go to properties.

3) Select hardware tab, check for SCSI controller entry there you can see if it's Lsi logic or bus logic controller.

Once more thing I want to confirm was , during the conversion you had SCSI disk for this VM.

Thanks,

Samir

Hi,

I don't sure that i understands what do you mean by virtual adapter but if i understood you right.

I have IBM X3850 with built in ESXi controller with no HD, the virtual machines images locate on my Netapp storage via iSCSI.

Thanks.
