I thought I'd try out the fancy new VMI features, using an Ubuntu 7.10 based VM running kernel 2.6.23.9, recompiled to use VMI. When I enabled VMI on the ESX 3.5 hosted VM,
the kernel won't boot as the CPU is not detected as 64bit.
This seems contrary to what I understood from the documentation, are 64bit paravirtualized hosts not available?
VMI only supports 32-bit guests.
Any idea on when it will be available on x64 platforms?
We have a lot of x64 Linux VMs and that would be great to have VMI enabled on them.
Unless VMI with 32bit VM is faster than a non-VMI 64bit VM.
Any suggestion on this?
Is there any news on if VMI will be expanded to include 64 bit guests?
