Hi ,
Can any one help me?
I have three servers which are all in decommissioning process. As an initial step i have shutdown those servers.Ater some time i have noticed that all three servers are running.
1.ESX hot machine is rebooted in between.
2.Host is placed in cluster(HR\DRS is enabled)
Is there any possibility to bring up the VMs automatically due to the reboot of ESX Hot?
Hello and welcome to the forums.
It is possible. Using the vSphere client, go the host and then the configuration tab. Choose the "Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown" option under the Software section on the left. Here you can verify if those virtual machines are configured to startup automatically with the host.
Good Luck!
Please see the attached screenshot for startup and shutdown. For decommisioning process...generally we maintain a seperate folder in datastore. For which any VM which has to be decommisioned, we unregister them from Inventory and move the VM folder to Decommision folder. In this way...there is no need of startup/shutdown order.

Thanks for answer
just so you know, if your guests are part of an HA cluster, the startup/shutdown options are disabled, even if set. The best you can do is set restart priorities
