Unable to install a 64 bit guest OS

Hi,

Newbie question (I Guess). Downloaded a eval copy of VMWare infrastructure. Installed a server on a DL380 (2 phys. CPUs (quad core)). All fine. Installed the SingleHost.lic. Started a client (on 32bits Windows XP). Created a new VM guest OS, selected WS2003 64 bits. Fails to install, the 32 bit version runs fine.

Any ideas? Is 64-bits disabled in SingleHost, Evaluation, due to the client OS?

Thanks for any help!

Gerard

Hi Gerald, in most cases you can fix this be rebooting the host and going into the bios. You'll find a setting for Intel VT (Virtualization Technology). You'll need to make sure that is enabled. Once that is done, you should be able to start your 64 bit VM and you won't have to make further changes to ESX.
