Windows Server 2008 R2 Mouse Performance

Anyone else seeing slow and sluggish mouse movements with Server 2008 and 2008 R2?

You can try the approach outlined in kb 1011709 to switch to the wddm_video driver, and this will likely fix the problem. Take a snapshot first, just in case you run into the nasty black screen issue mentioned.

Hello.

Yes, what version of ESX(i) and vCenter are you using? Have you tried changing the video driver to wddm_video?

ESXi 4.0 update 2 and vCenter 4.0 update 2. Soon going to 4.1.

I just use the typical install of VMTools...

I too experienced the same behaviour in 4.1. I recommend going ahead and editing your VM to set the RAM from Auto to 32mb. No pesky black screen problem that way. Everything else is still the same.
