"this cpu is not compatible with x64 mode" message in a new VM...

Hello,

I have installed a VMWare ESX server v.3.50 82663...

I created a new VM and try to boot from the Win2003SrvR2x64STDSP2 disk... I get the following message:

"Attempting to load an x64 operating system, however this cpu is not compatible with x64 mode. Please install a 32-bit X86 operating system"

Why is this happening?

Do I have to make some specific change in the settings?

Thank you

1. Make sure the host's CPUs support VT and 64bit longmode.

If the first requirement is fulfilled:

2. Enable VT in the BIOS of the ESX host.

3. Powercycle the ESX host.

Have you enabled the Intel-VT or AMD-V setting in the host BIOS?
