Upgradation of ESX Server from 3.0.2 to 3.5

Hello All,

Just want to confirm before upgrading from ESX 3.0.2 to ESX 3. will be testing on one host out of 5 ESX Hosts.

1. Once after upgrading the ESX host (first one) to 3.5 which was earlier 3.0.2 ver will it communicate with other hosts becoz after upgradation one host will be of 3.5 and rest of it will be 3.5.

2. If it communicates whether Vmotion works properly or do we need to configure anything else.

3. Anything to do with HA/ DRS.

4.Do we have GUI installer for upgrading ESX Hosts. If yes let me know the steps.

5. Do we need to configure anything at datastore part (like updating the SCSI adapters).

Hello,

Yes.

VMotion works, no you do not have to do anything else

3. Anything to do with HA/ DRS.

First before you upgrade ESX, upgrade VC to 2.5 Update 3.

4.Do we have GUI installer for upgrading ESX Hosts. If yes let me know the steps.

You can, or you can use the update manager plugin. I tend to use update manager. Many books and documents review the upgrade process.

5. Do we need to configure anything at datastore part (like updating the SCSI adapters).

No.
