Hi guys.
Recently, I installed a Hyperic 5.8. So, i want add my vCenter infrastructure to hyperic inventory, but apparently I'm doing something wrong, because i can't see vcenter in hyperic's resource tab.
vCenter parameters:
vCenter 5.1.
VirtualCenter.VimApiUrl: https://vcenter-prod.mydomain.local:443/sdk
Hyperic Parameters
vCenter URL: https://vcenter-prod.mydomain.local:443/sdk (i tried with https://vcenter-prod.mydomain.local/sdk, without 443 port, and nothing happens)
vCenter user: admin (i tried with system-domain\admin, and nothing happens).
Passwd: admin user password.
I restarded hyperic server many times and nothing. I try to install vsphere plugin from solutionsexchange, but hyperic don't show plugin .
Do I need add another parameter in any place?
Greetings
As of 5.8 VC plugin is no longer included out of the box with new Hyperic installations. You can install it using the plugin manager after you download it from Solution Exchange: https://solutionexchange.vmware.com/store/products/vmware-vcenter-plugin-for-hyperic#.UwL1M_mSzh4

The correct answer is that the vCenter plugin has been deprecated beginning in v5.8.
It will not be supported by GSS if used with v5.8 and above.
The correct method to get vCenter/ESX metrics is to use vCOps for vSphere monitoring and Hyperic to feed guest metrics to vCOps.
Hi,
I was able to install the plugin in hyperic server using plugin manager but I it doesn't able to pull information from vCenter server or vSphere ESX host. Do we have to install any agents on VCVA VM or ESX host?
Thanks,
RJ
You will need to use the following steps as well to get this working.
Select a platform that has an agent from which you'd like to launch the vCenter queries. It should have network access to your vCenter Server. It is best not to use the agent running on the vCenter to run these vCenter queries.
In the agent.properties file for the selected agent:
Set the accept.unverified.certificates property to true
Set the following user and password properties as well.
Use your own Hyperic username and password
agent.setup.camLogin=hqadmin
agent.setup.camPword=hqadmin
Restart the Agent
In the UI create a new vCenter Server
Set its configuration to have the URL, user and password for accessing your vCenter Server.
