Connect CD/DVD - Permission denied

I have to disable the console access from VI client for the users, they can use only RDP to login to the VMs. It works well. But they also need to mount ISO images or local CD drives in their VMs and when they try to use the Connect CD/DVD button in the VI client they get an Error: Permission to perform this operation was denied.

There is any way to disable the Console but leave the Connect CD/DVD option enabled.

You can create a custom role and assing at your users.

Then the can use web access (or VIC) to use CD.

Hi Andre

Which role do you think?

I cloned the Virtual Machine User and removed the Console Interaction privilege. After that the user cannot use the Connect CD/DVD button.

Ok, thei cannot use the console.

But can configure the CD from VM settings?

Yes they can, but the point is to use the "Connect CD/DVD" button from VI and that isn't work. They cannot connect their local CD drive to the VM.

But this an example of "console interaction task". And you have removed this privilege.

So there is no way to block to logon or screen access to the VMs form VI but permit mounting devices?
