Right way to reload the license file in VC

We have got new license from VMWare and would like to reload the license file in VC.

We would like to know what is the proper procedure of doing so ?

Like: Is it necessary for us to remove the HA / DRS in the cluster ? To stop the VMWare Server Service ? ....

Your advice is sought.

They say you can reload the license file in the FlexLM, but I find that it generally requires a restart of the License Service. Worst case a reboot of the host running the FlexLM will get it reloaded. Bottom line for me is that it is inconsistent, but par for the course with FlexLM.

Hello,

Well VC does not control the license file, that is within the VMware License Server. You can reload the license, restart the license server, or restart the server, either will work and not really affect running systems. Most people have VC and License Manager on the same host so rebooting is not always an option. I suggest using LMTOOLs to reload or restart. You may have to use the 'force' option to restart.

Best regards,

Edward
