Command used :

vcbmounter -h 10.1.1.1 -u user -p password -a ipAddr:10.1.1.11 -r c:\test -t file -m nbdssl

1 vdisk is standard 100GB disk (first disk, PROD_P-CRI-DC01.vmdk) on the local datastore.

2 vdisks are windows dynamic 800GB (2* 800 GB) disks (JBOD RAID, manged by the VM itself) on different storage system (SAS DELL MD3000) seen as SCSI storage by ESXi.

The snapshot of the VM is succesfully created (and deleted after the error)

Any ideas?

I am assuming you can mount other VMs based on your previous posts. This error leads me to believe either the Virtual LUN driver was not installed properly or it cannot handle the dynamic disk. I know it has issues with dynamic disks even on fullvm backups sometimes.

There may be a certificate issue. Does this error occur if you run it in just nbd mode ( -m nbd )?

Yes, and not working too I earlier tried a windows dynamic disk in jbod raid and it worked perfectly, so I don't understand why it doesn't work now

Debug verbose -L6 don't give any usefull information...

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. Looking at KB : file level backup & dynamic disks is unsupported -> I previously tested this and it prevously worked. But I was in a testing environment and almost blank disks. I will try to reproduce my tests and see.

Where can I get "the vmware-vmount and vmware-vlun logs" ? Remmember I'm on ESXi

The logs are on the VCB proxy in %TEMP% - usually c:\windows\temp When you ramp up verbosity to 6, it also adds more info to those logs.

Also, remember that VCB 1.5 uses port 443 for communications weather using nbd or nbdssl, so check the firewall on the ESXi servers and vCenter.
