Hello,
because there is no way to backup DB without shutting down services I would like to move to MS SQL instead of postgres embedded DB ,
is anyone running SQL server separately and added a remote database on VCSA.
Does vmware supports SQL DB on vcsa - vmware site tells only 2012 is supported but some blogs said it is not supported by vmware?
or anyother way to copy the database without the outage of vcenter.
As far as I know, VCSA does not support SQL database, see: VMware KB: Installing vCenter Server 6.0 best practices
Q: What is the plan to support Microsoft SQL databases with vCenter Server Appliance 6.0?
A: There is no plan to support Mircosoft SQL database as an external database. Embedded vPostgres database supports scale limits of 1,000 hosts and 10,000 virtual machines.
But you can use Oracle as external database and use Oracle backup solution to take a online database backup.
