vCenter cannot add host

Hi all

I've ESX 4.1 (172.26.0.2) with n VM running properly. I can use vSphere client to manage them. I've created vCenter on MS 2008R2 server (172.26.0.3). Throught vSphere Client I connect to vCenter (172.26.0.3) and add Datacenters. The problem is when I try to add  host. Using wizard, (host: 172.26.0.2), user:root, pwd: xxx)

"Cannot contact the specified host (...) the host ..."

Call "Datacenter.QueryConnectionInfo for object ..."

What I've done:

I checked ping from 172.26.0.3 to 172.26.0.2

I've reinstalled vmware-vpxa service with "sh vpx-ivpx-upgrade-esx-7-linux345043" command and now is running

I've restarted mgmt-vmware service

Lockdown mode is false

I've recreate  the certificate

I've checked  /var/log/vmware&vpx/vpxa.lg file and there is not errors

Any help

Thank you

Ricardo

Can you connect to that host directly with the vSphere client?

Hi,

If the vm's on the host are not critical, Can you turn off them , reboot the host and try connecting again.

Could also be network latency problem. I ahd this in the past.

Is it on the domain?

Thanks

Thank you for your fast reply.
Yes, using vSphere Client  I can log in and see all VM. In fact, vCenter is one of this machines

thank you for your fast reply.

No, vCenter and ESX servers are not under any domain. I suppose I can reboot esx server during this weekend...

I'll check it

Thank you

Ok. Could you also check the ports if it could be the firewall issue.

Good Luck

The big one here would be port 902.

HI all

I've checked all input rules (image attached) and all ports are allowed.

Thank you for your efforts 😉

Try turning off your Windows firewall on your vCenter.  The "timeout" for the error when that happens is right around 60 seconds.

I assume the host and vCenter are on the same subnet?
