Unable to see ESX 4 hosts inside vSphere 'In-A-Box' method demo

I am running:

Nehalem Intel i7 Quad Core

150GB SATA

NIC is an Intel 10/100/1000 Pro adapter

I have installed ESX 4 on the 150GB and I created two virtualized ESX 4 VMs under this. I was hoping to re-create the same infrastructure like I had in the Windows World using Workstation. I am unable to ping-out or ping the VM's (the ESX 4 VMs).

If I leave the vNIC on the VM as a Flexible adapter ESX 4 won't see my physcial NIC, it complains my NIC isn't a compatible card. If I switch this by removing the vNIC and make it a E1000 or other setting the error goes away and it lets me boot normally.

So to summirize the setting of FLEXIBLE won't allow me boot inside of ESX4

I've cheked the Duplex for the physcial and vitual host, all are set to 100MB Full Duplex, the VMs and the physcial host have a static IP set.

Nevermind previous post. I've resolved my problem. I found out it was a routing issue with the gateway on the physcial host
