Update Vendor Addon HPE Customization for HPE Server

Hi,

The following is in use;

  • vCenter 7.0.3 21784236
  • ESXI Hosts 7.0.3, 21053776
  • HPE Oneview 8

At HPE I saw that there is a new ESXi image, Version VMware-ESXi-7.0.3-21424296-HPE-703.0.0.11.3.0.5-Apr2023.iso
From my point of view, this includes the HPE Customization for HPE Servers 703.0.0.11.3.0.5

However, the Lifecycle Manager in the vCenter still shows me version 703.0.0.11.1.0-25. How do I get this updated?
We install image based

I guess that the new AddOn has just not been synchronized yet to the available vLCM downloads.

Thanks for the answer.
Ah, I understand, is it normal that it always takes longer until they are in the vLCM?

I can't tell you how excactly the steps are and when new packages are provided, but I assume that VMware provides them shorly after the vendor (in this case HPE) makes them available.

Can someone write what he currently sees in the vCenter?

According to the HPE document there should be more than I see:

I don't have access to a vCenter Server at the moment, but if the Add-On still doesn't show up, you may want to check whether it's a synchronization issue, or download the Add-On bundle from https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/downloads/details?downloadGroup=ADDON_ESXI70U3_HPE&productId=9... and import it into vLCM.

Hi;

I can tell you that this happened to me before updating to version 8 in another cluster and the only way I had was to do it manually, download and upload it. HPE-703.0.0.11.3.0.5-Apr2023-Addon-depot.zip My vCenter is 8 and it's updated,

I just synchronized it and it doesn't see that version, which is what always happened to me. If you have updated vcenter first, you have verified that "sync updates "works there is not much else to do.  You can see in the screenshot above.

It gives me that HPE did not release this package or Vmware did not accept it. In any case, if you do it manually, I can assure you that it works

After you import updates on LCM

You can see it now;

I hope it works for you and helps

Regards!!

Hi,

Thanks for the answer.

I'm a little reassured that she had to add it manually.
Since I sometimes don't know if I'm just too stupid or the vCenter doesn't download the software.

I still find it a challenge with the vLC to have everything up to date.
Depending on the CVE it would be urgent and weeks would pass before a valid combo was available....

You're not alone 😉

What vendors like HPE usually support, is to install VMware patches within a given "Update" release (e.g. 7.0 U3), without updating the Add-Ons too.

As far as I can tell it is available now:

Great, thanks for the news!
And the dilemma continues.... (I know .02 SPP is not yet on HPE's Valid vLCM combo)
