another IBM x3650 M2 headache!

Last week one of my customer IBM x3650 M2 server got issue with UEFI features & workaround is, do legacy boot. But today another customer having another issue during ESX 4.0 installation which ESX unable to detect the local storage, so I cant proceed with the installation.

The 2x 73GB (Raid 1) disk currently attached to ServerRaid SAS/SATA M5014 controller. Searched in Vmware HCL, no result found.

Anyone having same issue?

If RAID controller is not in list, it`s not compatible with ESX, and this can be reason of problem.

I have x3650 M2 running ESXi 4 but my controller is ServerRaid MR-10i. I think the only option for your client is to change the controller.

BTW, I do not have problem with EFI although I don't like it.

Thanks & really appreciate your feedback dude. Yaaa, I knew, have to replace the controller.

BTW, have your M2 connecting to external storage via HBA? UEFI issue only happen when you connect your M2 with external storage via HBA as what IBM told.

No, we use NFS or iSCSI.

It's good to know it has problem with HBA.

Thanks
