Mixed questions after using vDP a while

Some questions after I have used vDP a little while:

It can not backup or restore individual vmdk from a VM, only the entire VM with all disks?

There is no restore rehearsal?

The appliance always takes about 10 minutes to boot up by design?

I did a VM backup of a VM called NT4, deleted it and restored it. After restore, the VM works fine but its VM name in vCenter and folder name on VMFS  is NT42012.09.10.10.22.07_9_18_2012. What happened here?

Unless I missed something, can this be considered a step forward from vDR?

Best regards

Henrik

Hi,

VDP 5.1 currently

- can backup/restore only at VM level (No support at vmdk level)

- No restore rehearsal

- Yes it takes 10-15 mins to boot

- Restoring a deleted VM suffixes the date&time stamp.

Agree that VDP misses some cool features from VDR, but VDP gains few marks on these features..

1. Much better de-dupe ratio

2. File level restore thought web-client. No need to install file-level restore client on each VM

But VDP will shape up much better.
