Hello,
I can't consolidate the snapshots.
"Because the files are locked".
What happen ?
How to fix it ?
Regards,
M. Kerrec
Hi,
follow this procedure
ARomeo
check with following command to find which host locked the vm. By MAC address you can know which host locked.
vmkfstools -D /vmfs/[path_to_the_file]
vmfsfilelockinfo -p /vmfs/[path_to_file]
Ref Article VMware Knowledge Base
We know how to fix consolidation problems, locked files and cases where more snapshots than allowed are created.
But to start with any of those roads we need more input ,,,
logs would help, error messages .... file-lists ...
To find out more about what may be causing this message, please run ls -lisa > filelist.txt from the ESXi host's command line to list the files in the VM's folder. Then download filelist.txt from the datastore, and attach it to your next reply.

Hello,
Why give you the list of files for the VM where the snapshots files are a lot and the consolidation is failed ?
Is there any VMWARE KB that explain step by step how to fix the issue ?

There are several KB articles, and blog posts available that deal with fixing snapshot issues, but it's important to find out the exact issue prior to be able to recommend a solution.
Especially VMs with multiple snapshots need to be treated carefully to avoid possible data loss.
Btw. the file list - if you are willing to provide it - will only be the first step to get an overview.

Hello,
The issue seems to be on the VERITAS SUPPORT side.
In fact, Backup Exec create many snapshot files inside VMware filesystem
I 'll come back asap.
Regards,
Inside Veritas BackupExec 20.6 :
BackupExec menu :
« Configuration And Settings »
« Backup Exec Settings »
« Virtual Machine »
>> Click on "Use the standard processing method”
Is that the solution?
About Veritas BackupExec : the proposal come from the Veritas Support; and I plan to run it this week, first.
About Vmware : I plan to run this KB this week too, second :
