VMware Data Recovery Problem

We have a local ESX cluster and a remote ESX cluster that we replicate to. We backup some VMs with VMware Data Recovery locally to a local storage repository. What I'd like to do is copy those backups (the VMwareDataRecovery directory) to a remote repository and import them into a VDR at the remote location.

I tried copying the directory over and when I started VDR at the remote location, it recognized it had changed and imported everything in. I tried doing a restore rehearsal of one of the VMs, but it keeps failing. Below is the log I'm getting.

Does anyone know if this should work or why it's failing? Is there a best practices for doing something like this?

8/26/2010 7:41:32 AM: Restore using alasca Rehearsal

8/26/2010 7:41:32 AM: To volume Resources...

8/26/2010 7:41:32 AM: Restoring from /lacie02/replicated/, Session (8/25/2010 5:37:38 AM)

8/26/2010 7:44:22 AM: Trouble writing files, error -3948 ( vcb api exception)

8/26/2010 7:44:23 AM: Task incomplete

8/26/2010 7:44:23 AM: Remaining: 4 files, 10.1 GB

8/26/2010 7:44:23 AM: Completed: 0 files, 12 KB

8/26/2010 7:44:23 AM: Performance: 0.1 MB/minute

8/26/2010 7:44:23 AM: Duration: 00:02:51 (00:00:01 idle/loading/preparing)

Thanks,

Scott

Have you checked if the second VDR has the right permission to write on the folders?

Thanks for the suggestion. It actually ended up being DNS. VDR couldn't reach the hosts by name.
