Help!! Trying to VM OS Vista...

I have just purchased Win7 pro and decided to convert my current running os Vista pro to a VM on an external USB drive. I used the new Converter Standalone 4.01 but when it finished it reported something to the effect that the configuration file was wrong and "was created by a VMware product with more features than this version of VMware Workstation and cannot be used with this version of VMware Workstation".

I am a registered user and been running VMWare workstaion for years. I am using the latest build 6.5.

I cannot run this VM at all. I have never had trouble running normal VMs on extranal drives.

Can anyone give me any guidance please.

Thanks for the offer to help, but I upgraded to the new version 7 and it read the file perfectly. Obviously there was an issue with 6.5.
