Hallo gboskin,

yes RoundRobin is fully supported in ESX 4.00. You can use this with FC storage. I didn't use it in conjunction with iSCSI, because of other / better fitting methods.

RR can be configured via the GUI or via "esxcli" command remotely and local via SC.

You can also choose a value of IOs when the path will be switched, but be carefull in using RR as not all Storage Arrays support this method!

Any questions, give them to me, I'll try my very best Smiley Wink to answer them, and indeed points are welcome...

I would like to know if there is a way to set Round Robin as the default method for my Fiber Channel datastores. I am getting tired of setting 40 LUNs on 50 servers to use Round Robin. I would like to be able to set something that automatically makes all LUNS use Round Robin. Or if there is at least a way to set this on the host level, or a script that can set my LUNs on the host so I dont' have to click through the GUI.

Yes you can change the default PSP(path selection plugin) if you would like to.

Please excuse my ignorance. I looked at the pages that you listed and I couldn't understand it.

I created a new thread at http://communities.vmware.com/thread/213756 so we don't keep taking over this thread.

I don't think this thread has been answered and I have done searches and not found a solution yet.

pg 83/84 does talks about LUN masking and un masking but not how to set the default to Round Robin.

pg 25 states "You can override the default PSP" but doesnt say how.

I am running ESXi 4 in my environment and was hoping for a way to do this in the vClient instead of CLi
