Battery 0 0n Controller 5003xxxxx

We have recently built 11 ESXi 5 hosts in two different environments.  Eveything appears fine, but on all hosts we have an error in the Hardware Staus Tab showing Battery 0 on controller 50030057015AD620 - Battery status unknown.  Everything appears fine, but our Enterprise Management team are picking up the alerts.  Has anybody seen this before?  I have attached a screen shot with the error.

This is most likely the battery of the RAID controller charging, you only recently brought these servers up for the first time right?

Either the alarm goes away in a while, or you can try the "reset sensors" in the Hardware Status tab in vCenter.

Thanks for your response.  The servers have been on for quite some time.  I have accepted the alarms, several times, but they trigger again after a certain period of time.  It is strange that all servers display the same issue, so I don't think there is a Hardware issue.

Hi Jason,

I noticed that your BIOS is three revisions out of date, could you confirm that your controller firmware is upto date and that you have installed the latest CIM providers for your RX300 S7?

In addition to the latest updates, have you tried physically removing all power cables for 20 seconds to reset the system - I have seen odd issues like this (mostly with remote management controllers) where the only fix Is to remove power cables and once back up again all sensors report ok ... But I would update firmware / drivers in the first instance.

Here, the problem is with the controller BBWC or the hardware status tab not able to speak to the agents.

You could update the firmware to the latest version and then check if the issue is the smae.

If the issue persists then run diags or generate diags from the srever to check if it sees any failure for the BBWC, if there is a failure then the value would be set to "1".

Replacement of the card is the solution.

Note : Hope the BIOS is up to date.

I found the following articles that relate to CMI providers, speciffically LSI Megaraid that we use on all out hosts.

Neither state there is a CMI for LSI, so as you guys have reccommended, would the best option be to upgrade the BIOS, or is there another option?  The image I used to built the hosts was downloaded from the Fujitsu website, as I need Server view to be incorporated.

Yes, updating the BIOS, firmware and VIBs should be the first step so that you can rule this out of the equation.
