Hi,
I have a computer with following hardware:
intel i5-4570
ASUS Z87-K
Kingstone Hyper-x Predator 16GB 2400
I want to install ESXi 5.5 on it, When I saw that for installing it I have to disable most BIOS features, I think that it's better to use VMware Workstation than intalling ESXi 5.5 on it,then i can use the motherboard's RAID and it is not necessary to disable all that BIOS features.
But the Performance is very important to me, which will have better performance with my hardware?
Thanks
zXi_Gamer, you were a little late for the party :smileysilly:
svhost, You don't need any drivers. Just install ESXi, it will have all the drivers required. Performance depends on the hardware. I'm sure it will work fine. Please go ahead with the installation
ESXi is your Type-1 hypervisor which can directly abstract the hardware and give it ti virtual machines. if you use VM Workstation then workstation will be dependent on your underlying OS. And it has to ask for the resources from OS. If features supported on your Hardware are important for you then go with Workstation or Install ESXi to have better utilization of resources and also performance.
Thanks,
Then you are trying to say whereas we are disabling most BIOS features with installing ESXi but the performance will be much better? Is that true?
Can anyone help with drivers needed to push into ISO file? When I want to install ESXi it tells me at there is no network adapter.
I tried this ESXi 5.1U, Z87-PRO, Adaptec ASR-6805E but the network adapter chipset is different from mine and it doesn't worked for me
Rather than looking for a driver, I'd suggest you get yourself a supported NIC (see VMware Compatibility Guide) or at least one which is known as working (e.g. an inexpensive Intel Pro/1000 GT). With an unsupported NIC you risk to break the system with each update/patch you apply.

Thanks,Here I have no ability to buy another NIC,Thus I need the drivers,But later I will buy a supporting NIC
Can anyone help me please?
What is the NIC card that you have on your server?
This is my hardware
CPU:Intel core i5 - 4570
M.B : Asus z87 - k with Realtek 8111GR NIC
RAM: Kingstone Hyper-x Predator 16GB
Thanks
Calling @zXi_Gamer
You have ESXi running with Realtek 8111GR NIC right?
How did you manage to get the drivers?
Thanks Abhilash,
I bought a Intel 1000 NIC and now it's done
Is any other driver needed? Like motherboard's driver for better working and better performance?
M.B:Asus Z87-k CPU: Core i5-4570
Thanks
ESXi supports e1000 NIC. I don't think you should add any drivers for that.
If you found my answer correct/helpful, mark the answer appropriately
Thanks,
I mean except of NIC drivers is any other driver needed?(Like motherboard's driver for better performance and hardware use)
I dint use any additional driver for 5.1 installation. However, I have seen one of my colleague using this link to install the realtek driver.
http://www.tinkertry.com/install-esxi-5-5-with-realtek-8111-or-8168-nic/
What I gathered is that somewhere in the firmware version change, the realtek card behaves quite dynamically.
Hope that helps,
zXi
