Edit VM Settings – Catch 22

I am trying to allocate more RAM to one of our VM’s.

ESXi 5.5 Build 1474528

VM Version 10

The VM must be shut down to edit the settings.
With the VM shut down the vSphere Web Client is unavailable because the VMWare management databases are on this VM.

Hi,

you could clone the VM, increase the RAM of the clone, start the clone and shutdown the original.

Workaround 22 I guess? Smiley Wink

PowerCLI for the win... good job!  (Note to myself:  Ensure that the virtualized VC and VCDB have hot add enabled before moving to 5.5).
