Hi All VM Experts,
Recently, I purchased the new home motherboard "ASUS H97 Plus" and wanted to build up a home ESXi lab.
CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 CPU (3.1 Ghz,6M)
Motherboard: ASUS H97 plus
I tired to install the ESXi 5.1 / 5.5 into the ASUS H97 Plus ... I suffered as the below situations:
1. I cannot find the ASUS H97 (SATA / LAN card) vib / tar drivers and I want to use the ESXi-Customer for the customization ESXi ISO.
2. I tried the ESXi 5.1 into the ASUS H97, that could pass all checking, then I selected a AHCI SATA Hard Disk to install the ESXi 5.1. All is successful, but that could not boot up the ESXi 5.1, after the successful installation. showed the error: "the system found unauthorized changes on the firmware or UEDI driver" <-- I tuned the security boot to "Boot Lagacy Mode", but it still fail to boot up ...
3. Is it possible to break the fakeraid?
Disable your Secure Boot State option in BIOS.
Thanks! I will test it out tonight and update u later~
Would you mind tell me one more where can I download the vib/tar driver about the H97 motherboard? Thanks!
Hi,
I cannot disable the Secure Boot setting ... Can I ask the ASUS why cannot disable?
Or, from Windows, hold the Shift key while selecting Restart. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options: UEFI Firmware Settings.
I ran in to the secure boot issues when I was installing ESXi 5.5 to my USB flash drive on a ASUS Sabertooth Z97 motherboard. After disabling the Secure Boot options and setting it to "Other OS", I had to make some other changes to BIOS to get it to work.
You can see them from this post here: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2408398#2408398
To create a customized community supported ESXi 5.5 installer, this is what I did:
Create a customized, community supported ISO build if you're installing ESXi to the SSD, and include the VIB from here:
http://vibsdepot.v-front.de/depot/bundles/sata-xahci-1.20-1-offline_bundle.zip
If you're not installing to the SSD then you just need to get the VIB from here: http://vibsdepot.v-front.de/wiki/index.php/Sata-xahci
You can read about how I built my ISO here: http://www.vmware.ninja/create-a-community-supported-esxi-iso-build-with-powershell-cli/
Hope this helps!
Yes ... I just found the Boot > Secure Boot > Secure Boot State > Enabled <--- But this value is gray, I cannot turn it off ...
Related on that? http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=117113
Hi Edwin,
To activate all greyed out options you must set passwords for Master and User in bios. Please let me know if this works.
I set the admin / user password, but I still turn the Secure Boot option (That still is gray) ...
Should I delete the all Key Management? Any issues about that?
Hi,
I just deleted the PK key and saw the Secure Boot is disable ... Unfortunately, the ESXi still cannot boot up ... Any ideas? :smileycry:
Hi Expert,
I want to try the ESXi 5.5u2, but the network card cannot support. Where can I download the network card vib/tar? Then I can use the ESXi-Customizer to make the customer ESXI ISO ... Where?
Edwin,
With all due respect - please use the google!
