I have set up a Windows 7 Pro on ESXi 4.0 but the network adapter is not available.
I tried setting adapter type to E1000 and VMXNET3 but it still doesn't work.
I also tried changing Guest Operating System to Miscorsoft Windows Vista (64-bit), Miscorsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) and Others (64-bit), but got the same issue.
Any idea?
Thanks.
VMware Tools are up-to-date?
I've used vmxnet and vmxnet2 driver without problem, but also other driver must work.
Andre
I installed the guest os in VMWare Workstation 6.5 and installed the VMWare Tools, and then converted it to ESXi with VMWare convertor.
I also tried vmxnet 2 and flexible, but it still doesn't work.
Update the VMware Tools first.
Andre
thanks Andre.
where can I get the latest VMWare Tools iso file? can I download it form VMWare web site?
VMware Tools are preinstalled on ESXi, so just right-click on VM and select "Install/Upgrade VMware Tools". Since you already have VMware Tools installed, it can be done automatically.

I tried it but failed to install it with the below error.
What ESX patch are you running? From U1 (build 208xxx) Win7 is properly supported and creating the VM as Win7, then installing should work (possibly may need to install vmware tools). Adapter it uses is E1000.
Please award points to any useful answer.
I am using 4.0.0.Update01-208167.
thanks everyone.
Since the esxi host isn't managed by vCenter yet. I can't upgrade VMWare tools via vCenter, so I have to manually upgrade network adapter driver.
I copy the driver files for vmxnet from a vCenter Server machine, then use it to upgrade network adapter driver. :-d
Cheers.
