Hi all,
I today found information that Lantronix is discontinuing its products UBox 2100 and 4100 without replacement:
http://www.lantronix.com/pdf/bulletins/PCN-121_UBox-EOL.pdf
This is heavy news for me. UBox was perfect solution for redirecting and sharing USB devices over Ethernet,
because VMware ESX/ ESXi still doesn't support USB devices (except VMDirectPath).
There are several other devices available. Digi AnywhereUSB, Belkin has one and Silex has several. I have use Silex devices for several years with great success.
There are rumors about USB redirection in upcoming release. VMware already implemented one part of USB redirection in 4.0, but I suppose they still had problems with it in 4.0, so they just postponed it.
And they will implement it for sure efore your Lantronix UBoxes die.

We use a USB over Ethernet device made by Keyspan (owned by TrippLite now).
It is the US-4A. We have 10 of these deployed right now serving USB security dongles.
USB security dongles will be the bane of your existence if you don't pick the right USB-over-Ethernet device! We connect approximately 20 USB devices to virtual machines using the Digi AnywhereUSB USB-over-Ethernet device servers.
Digi AnywhereUSB - confirmed to work with Aladdin dongles (HASP, HASP4, HASP4 M1, HASP Hardlock/HL), Sentinel dongles (SafeNet Sentinel, RAINBOW SuperPro), CodeMeter dongles (CmStick). Does NOT work with the WIBU SYSTEMS dongles (WIBU-KEY, WIBU-BOX/U+). These are stable, but make sure you use the latest drivers and read the instructions.
Lantronix UBox 2100/4100 - confirmed to work with Aladdin dongles and WIBU SYSTEMS dongles. The drivers for this device are not as stable - sometimes the device will disappear and not be visible until we power cycle it. Not recommended.
Belkin Network USB Hub - no native drivers for Windows Server. Not recommended.
