Purchasing ESXi version 8 and downgrading to 7

Hi Support Team

What is the appropriate or specific type of ESXi Version 7 license for our current hardware setup? We are currently using ESXi Version 7.0 U3 (Expired). We purchased 1 License Standard but we got an error upon assigning the license. (Please see attached screenshots for reference).

Do we need to purchase a quantity of 2 licenses with 1 processor and then combine them to make it 2 processors?

Hardware Specification

Model: HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9
CPU: 16 CPUs x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 @ 2.40GHz.
Sockets: 2
Cores per Socket: 8
Bios Version: P89
Bios Release Date: January 22, 2018

Thank You Guys

Once you've purchased the required capacity, the licenses will appear in your Cusomer Connect Portal, form where you can combine/divide licenses, and up-/downgrade them to the version that you need.

Note that in order to combine licenses to a single key, they firt need to be up-/downgraded to the same version.

Hello a_p_

Thank You for your reply,

Just to clarify, with our current hardware specs do we need to purchase a quantity of 16 licenses, 16 processors then combine, or do we just need 2 licenses, 2 processors then combine?

Thank You

As your hardware is having two CPU, you required two license as one license covers one cpu with upto 32 cores. Please see below doc as reference:
