Hi All,
I am using custom image build VMware ESXi 5.0.0 build-623860.
The problem i m facing is, installing windows 8 in one of the VM in VMware ESXi 5.0.0 build-623860.
Installation happends long time. Approximately 2 to 3 hours.
Shall anyone pls suggest me what could be the possible reason for this ?
Regards

What kind of hardware is this on? These kind of problems is usually storage-related, what kind of storage?
What are you comparing to?

Hi,
We are testing the Japan Server OS on UCS Blade Servers with different adapters(VIC1280,M72KR-E & M72KR-Q ). We are using Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers. On top of the blade we are installing Host OS and Guest OS. I am using Win8 as Guest OS and VMware Esxi 5.0 as Host OS as Boot from SAN.
Note:
If the win8 Guest OS can be copied to datastore, within a minute installation happends.
But if the Win8 can be in a NAS or local machine it takes long time to install. Approximately around 4 to 6 hours. So help me on this point.
Environment details:
--------------------------
Adapter : M72KR-Q ,
Vendor : Qlogic
Blade Type : B200M2
UCS Manager version : 2.0(4a)
Stoarge : NetApp, Hitachi VSP
Size : 100GB lun.
Hi anyone help this query
like linjo said your issue appears storage/network transfer related.
given your problems it the netowrk speed from your source to install.
this is because you say:
if you have the iso on the datastore install happens right away
if its on another server/upload from your vi client the data transfer is slow.
