Hey Guys,

I'm getting this error when trying to upgrade to esxi5.

Can someone fill me in on what's going on here?

From the screen shot it looks like you are trying to upgrade from the classic ESX to ESXi 5.0!?

  1. Partition layout: How was this host set up? Has it initially been set up with ESX(i) 3.x and then been upgraded to 4.x? In this case you may need to reinstall the host (see http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-upgrade... table 6-4 in section "Supported Upgrades to ESXi 5.0)
  2. With ESX(i) 4.1 Update 1 some additional drivers were installed which are not supported by the default ESXi 5.0 installation package. If you don't use/need this driver, you can ignore this message.
  3. As mentioned in the message you need to configure VMkernel ports in different subnets. The Classic ESX's Service Console is "converted" to a VMkernel port ("Management Network") in ESXi 5.0.

André,

As always, you pulled through!

Looks like i'm going to have to do a fresh install due to the fact the install is not past the "1 gb mark" on the esx host.

thanks for your help!
