Can you confirm that the ISO is bootable?

Did you check the "Connect at Power On" check box in the virtual CD-ROM's properties?

Once you see this screen, click the CD-ROM icon and make sure the ISO show as connected, then press CTRL-ALT-INS to reboot the VM.

Welcome to this community.

Make sure that you have enabled VT-X in BIOS of the machine, which should fix the issue..

Yes its needed. only if you enable vt-x in BIOS it works runing on workstation. reason vt-x allows multiple operating systems to simultaneously share x86 processor resources in a safe and efficient manner, a facility generically known as hardware virtualization, which is required for hypervisor.

Do you run VMware Workstation 8?

In this case edit the ESXi 5.0 VM's settings and check "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI" in the virtual CPU's options. see "http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8970"

If this does not work, please attach the ESXi 5.0 VM's latest vmware.log to your next post.

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"
monitor_control.vt32 = "TRUE"
monitor_control.enable_svm = "TRUE"

Add above three lines to your vmx file. This will work.
