hi all,
is it possible to have 2nd iscsi san?
thanks for any comment you may add...
Hello.
Yes, but you will probably want to keep them separated on separate switches/VMkernel connections as well.
Good Luck!

so seperate swtiches and vmkernel, what else you can give me on more hint? becase hp vmware support can't help me and my boss don't want to buy direct support to vmware. by the way, i'm using openfiler as my second san and new compatible hardware, my main san is hp lefthand.
Just an FYI - Openfiler isn't supported and may cause problems. Check http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1026596 for more information.
thanks, so which open source iscsi works with my compatible hardware and vmware vshpere 4.1?
is it not supported for a second san, right? but if one openfiler to one esxi, is that ok? i've been running openfiler for the last two years i never hand problem with it.

As far as I know, there is nothing supported at this point. Fedora Core 8 NFS Server was listed as supported for 4.0, but not 4.1.
I personally tend to use NFS on CentOS for things like this, but that is unsupported too. If Openfiler has been successful for you, then it may continue to be. I just wanted to make sure you knew the support stance.
you have some intructions on using openfiler NFS on esxi 4.1?

Microsoft's iSCSI target software is now available for free: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=19867.
You'll need a Windows server to run it, but this is a solid product that I used in production when it was part of the Storage Server offering.
is there issue on this with hp left hand iscsi as the main san?
