For a VM to be vMotioned (Live migrate) a shared storage is required.

If a VM is presented with RDM in physical mode, then snapshot feature is not available.

If a VM is presented with RDM in virtual mode, then snapshot feature is available.

For vMotion of VM with RDM:

A CLONE is a exact copy of an existing VM.

You have 2 different type of clone:

1) FULL CLONE - full clone is an independent copy of a VM

2) LINKED CLONE - The existing VM is a parent of the clone. When you clone a VM, the clone is a separate VM that share virtual disks with the parent VM

You can clone a VM if a VM with physical RDM support snapshots (during the clone process a snapshot will be taken)

for vMotion I suggest you to read this KB:

VMware KB: Migrating virtual machines with Raw Device Mappings (RDMs)

I hope this helped
