PCoIP not available for connection to a phisical desktop

Hi,

I have set up a small POC using View Manager 4.5 and 3 virtual desktop with the Agent and two physical desktop with also the agent installed.

After the first configuration and the creation of the test pools, we have encountered a strange proble:

  • The connection to the Virtual Desktop works fine with PCoIP and RDP also
  • The connection to the Physical Desktop works fine with RDP but not using PCoIP

All the Desktops (both virtual and physical are all based on Windows 7 32 bit). The version of the agent is the 4.6.

The symptoms are:

  • the user successfully authenticates into the client
  • the user select the desired pool correctoly
  • then the physical machine is locked as if the view client is attempting to logon
  • a few seconds later comes a message that says: diplay the protocol is not available ...

The relevant portion of the agent log file on the physical desktop is below

06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:2 RC:   0           AGENT :pcoip_agent_connect_req

06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:2 RC:   0           AGENT :pcoip_agent_connect_req: Session ID = 23
06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:2 RC:   0           AGENT :codec = 2.
06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:2 RC:   0           AGENT :Failed to open registry key PCOIP_REG_SOFT_SERVER with err: 2
06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:0 RC:   0           AGENT :tera_agent_launch_server failed.
06/30/2011, 14:55:40.904> LVL:2 RC:   0           AGENT :pcoip_agent_connect_req (end): connection_response, 1

Any suggestion?

Thank you very much,

Alessio

A physical system is like a TS source.

With the current version of View it works only with RDP (or with specific hardware vendor protocol, like HP solution for blades).

if i remember well, the software PCOIP are meant for virtual machines only and that physical PC would need a physical PCOIP card on them in order to work.

Hi,

Please refer

www.vmware.com/pdf/view45_installation_guide.pdf

Page 18

"VMware View with PCoIP
PCoIP provides an optimized desktop experience for the delivery of the entire desktop environment, including
applications, images, audio, and video content for a wide range of users on the LAN or across the WAN. PCoIP
can compensate for an increase in latency or a reduction in bandwidth, to ensure that end users can remain
productive regardless of network conditions.
PCoIP is supported as the display protocol for View desktops with virtual machines and with physical
machines that contain Teradici host cards."
