I would like to deploy an ovf into my workstation for testing purposes. Is there any way to do that? When I try to import it, I get this:
The import failed because ... ova did not pass OVF specification conformance or virtual hardware compliance checks.
and this (after clicking the "Retry" button):
Line 149: Unsupported element 'Property'.
That specific line contains this:

It is a 2 VMs OVF (vcOPS). I tried creating the VM and adding the vmdks but there are so many OS errors during OS start-up that I think that maybe (hopefully) there's an easier way to do this.
Any help is more than welcome

Have you tried to Import vcopps in your vCenter and then exported the 2vms individual to ovf?
The vApp relies on IP Pools for the communication channel between the two VMs - at least initially, so that's one problem. I'm not a whiz with OVF, vApps and Workstation but I don't believe the vApp construct exists in Workstation to support the deployment.

what would be the sense of having vC Ops run in workstation? You need a vCenter Server to monitor most resources, alternative would be standalone install if you want to monitor non vCenter related resources.
What you could however do is build a nested environment: Install one or two nested ESXi's install vCenter Server Appliance (or vCenter Server on Windows), then install vC Ops into that environment.
Again big question for me stays what is the target you try to achieve?

I'm trying to aquire the necesary knowledge in order to edit the requirements of the OVF file, as I want to get familiar with that. In a second phase, I will try to use Hyperic and vcOPS connected (I'm familiar with vcOPS but not the Ent edition in a "mix" with Hyperic). This second step is something that I can do in my work office lab during the week. For my "laptop lab" and weekend I would prefer to explore a more "fun" option
I was having doubts about starting this discussion in vcOPS community or the OVF community...it is actually a "OVF" question that happens to have something to do with a vcOPS ovf. I don't know if I can move the discussion to the other community, but I'll try.

Hi,
As far as I could see, those constructions doesn't exist as you mention...too bad for me but it makes sense as vApps are a vCenter thing. I was thinking that maybe there is some kind of way of "breaking" the vApp and maybe later on adding the individual machines to workstation.
