I have dificult to implement update_dns callout.
When I add a custom_step to my recovery plan and I add script to upgrade DNS It always fails. I get the error:
Warning: The command 'c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe' returned a non-zero value: 1
The strange is, If I execute the script manually from cmd console it works fine, but not throught SRM console.
My questions are:
1.- Which user launch the script.
2.- What type permissions must be in DNS server??
DNS server is a AD 2008 R2
Is there another way to perform this operation??
kinds regards.
my experience is its the service account that is tied into the SRM service on the VC server. Make sure this account has permissions to make changes (updates) to DNS. Also be aware that if you are running a test it will make live production changes on the network.
With my testing I always omit the DNS update script from the recovery plan.
Hi there MMRNOLA,
Thanks for your reply, I did that setting user/passwd with DNS privileges and it didn't work.
Exactly how have you setup this ??? What DNS server type you have?
Any more ideas ?
Best regards
what account are you logged in with when you execute the script from the CLI manually? Is this the same account you have setup as the service account for the SRM service?
have you seen this?
Yes I did, but no success.
The Domain User which run SRM service has all privileges over DNS and the same result.
Ivan.-
