I run vCheck and one of the things it looks for is ballooning and swapping of memory. It gave me a list of servers that are swapping memory and I went to each one to verify and sure enough they are. However each host these vms are residing on have plenty of free memory and there are no limitations set for memory or CPU. The vms also dont appear to be using all thier memory that was gratned to them so I am confused as to what could be causing this. Any thoughts?
Do they have any limits set?
// Linjo
No limits are set.
Can you reboot such a VM? Or try to vMotion it to another host?
In my lab I also noticed that if a VM was swapping, after the usage went back to normal it didn’t free up the swap. Reboot helped.
By the way what version of ESX are you running?
