Hey everybody,
Our main server is a virtualized Windows 2003 virtual machine. One of my colleagues over the weekend removed it from inventory and then re-added it. THey then removed and re-added both the primary and secondary hard drive. However, when it booted up, it reverted back to what I believe is a snapshot from July 15th!!!
This is very bad as we've lost 1000's of important files and email messages since then. One of the things I noticed now in the datastore is that their are these delta vmdk files. They are unaccessible and unable to be attached to any virtual machines however they are rather large. Is it possible one of these contains the information that leads up to when my colleague accidentally did this? Why would the virtual machine randomly jump back to what I believe is that snapshot? Is their any possible way of returning it to its state from over the weekend using these delta vmdk files?
