Guys
Does anyone know where one can get a patch for the changes that come in to affect next month?
Thanks
hey
I take it you have seen this link
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=8695824
Cheers
David
Hey David.
That appears to cover off the US changes...
I currently get the following results on our ESX 3.0.2 server:
zdump -v /etc/localtime |grep 2007
/etc/localtime Sat Mar 17 13:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 18 02:59:59 2007 NZDT isdst=1 gmtoff=46800
/etc/localtime Sat Mar 17 14:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 18 02:00:00 2007 NZST isdst=0 gmtoff=43200
/etc/localtime Sat Oct 6 13:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Oct 7 01:59:59 2007 NZST isdst=0 gmtoff=43200
/etc/localtime Sat Oct 6 14:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Oct 7 03:00:00 2007 NZDT isdst=1 gmtoff=46800
Where I really want to see something more like:
/etc/localtime Sat Mar 17 13:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 18 02:59:59 2007 NZDT isdst=1 gmtoff=46800
/etc/localtime Sat Mar 17 14:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 18 02:00:00 2007 NZST isdst=0 gmtoff=43200
/etc/localtime Sat Sep 29 13:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Sep 30 01:59:59 2007 NZST isdst=0 gmtoff=43200
/etc/localtime Sat Sep 29 14:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Sep 30 03:00:00 2007 NZDT isdst=1 gmtoff=46800
Oh question also applies to ESX 2.5.4, still got one of those running as well
Cheers
David
Hey
Yeah that is all I could find on the web site. I have also sent off an email to one of the local VMware guys asking about the NZ change. When he replies I will post his response here.
I am in the same boat with ESX 3 and 2.5.X servers.
Thanks
Hi
Just had a word back from the vmware rep. He said an update is coming out on the 6th of September, and a message will be going out to all NZ people who have enquired.
A message will be coming out from the US as well, apparently. I will post back with the links once I get them.
Cheers
David
Excellent, thanks for the info
Watching and waiting - ESX 2.5.x are the last updates I have left to patch DST changes
What about us admins that have Enterprises with
Servers in NZ ( among other places )?
Can't VMware just do a blanket notification so anyone that needs it can get this?
What about doing these all at once:
October 28th, 2007 Western Australia DST time change
November 4th, 2007 DST Fall Back time change for the areas in the US and Canada observing DST
January 1, 2008 Venezuela DST time change - announced on Aug 20, 2007
Hey David
Who should we get in contact with at Vmware for any updates on this issue?
Apparently the hotfix for ESX 3.0.x will be released this weekend. So for those in NZ, we can hopefully get it on monday
Friends,

New DST Changes:
New Zealand is extending their DST by three weeks starting this year (2007). DST will now be from last Sunday of September through first Sunday of April.
Haiti no longer observes DST. The DST roll-forward and roll-back rules have been removed.
Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) now switch at 02:00 local time, not at 00:00. They have also adopted the U.S. DST rules.
Syria switched to summer time on March 29 this year.
Honduras will not switch to DST this year.
Hi Tim
I sent you a private message with the details. Not that he sent out the email today saying the patches were available.
Cheers
