Service Console Procs

Greetings,

Nice easy question, and points too go around.

I've configured Big Brother monitoring in the SC, what are the important procs to be monitoing ?

Hello,

vmware-hostd

sshd

vmware-vpxa

vmware-webAccess

vmware-watchdog

vmware-vmkauthd

vmkload_app for each resource pool you have.

Those would be the big ticket processes to watch.

What sorts of things are you looking to do by monitoring the SC port? I guess I've never heard of monitoring the SC except for if it was up or down.

Well, from the SC I can report on the vm's and their current state, overrall disk utilization, VM CPU and network usage. As for the procs, vxpa and watchdog, I guess any procs that would impact the management of ESX.

You know, all the things that make the business rest a little bit easier Smiley Happy
