Transfer files from production environment to ESX lab environment (no network connection)

What would be the recommended way to transfer files from a production environment to an isolated ESX lab environment (Windows XP/2003 in the production physical environment and Windows 2003 in the virtual environment). The networking for the two environments needs to stay isolated, so I can't use any sort of Windows shares.

There is SAN presence on both sides, if that helps.

Hi,

If they need to be isolated you need to use a jump host. That could be your own PC? does that have access to both enviroments? Otherwise if the lab enviroment is totally isolated you could upload files to it by creating an ISO of the files and mounting through virtual center?

Thanks Frank,

The lab is totally isolated. I did think of the ISO idea, but It's a bit cumbersome, so I was hoping for something a bit more elegant. As a last resort, it would work.

What about getting things out of a VM and back into the real world.

Thanks.

Hi,

Well if your enviroment is isolated it will be a pain to transfer files to it. I would probably make a jump host in the isolated enviroment with a vNic in the both zones. When ever

I needed some files in the enviroment I would connect the nic, transfer the files and then disconnect the nic again.
