VM Creation on Local Storage

Hi, new to these forums and the VMWare, but was hoping someone could explain to me how to create a VM (using a template) on an ESX host using the host local storage and not the shared storage that would normally be used?

The host has been added to Virtualcenter and I am using ESX 3.

Many thanks.

The first thing is to make sure the host you want to store it on actually has a formatted VMFS partition. If not, create one using the "Add Storage" button. Once there is a VMFS on the server, then it should be available as somewhere to store the VM. You should rename the local VMFS from the default name of "Storage1" to something more dsecriptive, e.g. "ESX01-localVMFS1"
