Hi,
This is quite specific to the storage we're using ...
We have ESX 3.0 (Standard) and have it connected to an Equallogic PS400e device - using the software initiator.
All the iSCSI volumes are mapped OK, but whenever we take a snapshot on the equallogic and make it available to the ESX server it never sees it. We rescan the iSCSI Software Adapter, but it doesn't find it.
Anyone with a similar config seen similar behaviour?
Thanks,
Daniel.
If the VMware ESX Server sees that a volume already has a VMFS signature that matches an existing volume, it treats the volume as new and asks you to format it. If you set LVM.EnableResignature, the ESX server gives you access. You have to set this parameter for every ESX server where you want to mount snapshots, promoted replicas or clones.
From the Configuration Tab of the ESX server, select Advanced Settings. 2. Select LVM on the menu on the left. In the information pane you will see LVM.EnableResignature field. The default setting is 0. Change the setting to 1. 3. Now when you scan for new storage, it should see the snapshot, promoted replica, or clone as a pre-existing VMFS volume and mount it. Note: When youre done with the snapshot reset the setting to 0
Are you presenting the original and snapshot LUN to the same ESX host?
What are you settings in Configuration | Advanced for :
EnableResignature & DisallowSnapshotLUN
