Workflow in a package without Edit contents permission cannot be deleted

Hi,

I'm using vCO 5.5 on windows. I created a package and add some workflow into it. I tried to export this package for others to use. I deselected the Edit contents permission when exporting.

But after others import my package, they cannot delete the workflow directly. If I deleted package with content, the workflow could not be deleted, either.

Is it by design? Is there a way to solve this problem? Thanks.

Vicky

The only way to delete workflows in this instance is to delete the folder that contains them. However, in order to do that, you must update your user preferences. Under Tools -> User Preferences -> General, tick the Delete non empty folder permitted checkbox as shown below. Once you've done that, you can delete the folder that has the read-only workflows in it. Same applies to Actions/Modules:

Hi Vicky,

Not completely sure but I don't think there is an official/supported way to restore edit permissions of workflows using the Java client,

If you have access to the database used by vCO you can change permissions directly in the corresponding database table, but making such low-level database modifications is a bit risky and not supported officially.

Hi llian,

I hope my package users do not have the edit permission but they can delete these workflow at the same time. Of course it's not a normal way for users to modify DB, but it's good for developers to know that. Thanks Smiley Happy
