Hello,
we have several custom dashboards designed and would like to show them as a monitoring on a big screen. But this is only useful if we have the possibility to switch automatically every 60 seconds to another dashboard. Have anybody an idea how to realize that?
Thanks & Regards,
Christian
Since you're using custom dashboards I would say you're using the Advanced/Enterprise license. You can configure tab rotation in 'Dashboards -> Reorder Tabs...'. From there you can define which dashboards (Auto Transition) and the time (Seconds) and the next tab (To this Tab). Do not forget to loop back to the first tab if you want to loop it forever.
Also, you might want to disable the UI timeout. Check out my blog to set this: http://www.jume.nl/entry/vcops-ui-session-timeout (or do a Google: vcops ui timeout).
Hi Christian,
You can try some of the Tab Rotator Plugins that are available (here is one for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tab-rotator/).
Then open the different dashboards in different tabs and you are good to go.
Edit: Forgot to mentions that you are most probably going to need an autorefresh capabilities. See this thread for ideas: http://communities.vmware.com/message/2076413#2076413
Thanks,
Alex D.

Cool - I wasn't aware of this VCOps feature.
Nice that you can accomplish this from within VCOps and don't need any external tool. Also when the tabs are switched you don't need any custom autorefresh mechanism.
Thats great! Thanks a lot.
hi ChrisRu,
i know that this is pretty old thread you have. do you solve your problem? i seem cannot do the auto switch for the dashboard. auto switch dashboard only list default dashboard prebuilt from vmware. all my custom dashboard are not listed.
can you help me, i am using vROPS 6.0.1.

Hi Rangga,
I ran into the same issue yesterday. I noticed that only my first 25 dashboards were listed in the reorder/autoswitch panel. For some reason they forgot to add a next page control or something like that. What I figured out is that a good solution was to create a group for my NOC users. These users would only have access to the few dashboards that I had created for NOC purpose (less than 10). Then when I relog to vROPS with that user it only sees the dashboards assigned to that user. After that it's a piece of cake to configure the autoswitch option.
I hope it helped,
Pierre
