What network to install

I apologize if this is a silly question but we are testing VDI in our environment and to troubleshoot I was told I should install vCOps. All our virtural desktops are on one network and the infrastructure servers are on another. That being said what network would it be best to install the vCOps vms? The desktop network or the backend server network... OR does it even matter?

Thanks

I will recommend you deploy the vApp on the same network of your vCenter Server... and if your Connection Server are on different network you may need open some firewall ports.

Thanks for the reply...

So being on a different network than the desktops will still allow us to troubleshoot the performance issues we're seeing on the desktops?

Yes, there is a vCenter Operation Manager for Horizon View Desktop Agent that will report backup desktop metrics (PCoIP, CPU, memory, disk, session info) to vCOPs but you will need open some ports on firewall.

Ok...

One final question. I've already deployed on the desktop network but I ran into an issue on the virtual network side. Is it easier to delete the two vms from disk and reinstall from OVA and give the new IP addess or should I change the IPs on the existing already deployed vCOps VM's?

I looked at changing the IP's and to be honest, it didn't look that simple.

Thanks again

Since you're just starting I will recommend you re-deploy the vApp on the new network... anyway the follow link shows the procedure to change the IP address for the vCOPs: http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2012/02/how-to-change-ip-address-for-vcenter.html
