Bootable USB support

Hi all,

I'm trying to test an appliance we're building with vmware fusion. It boots and runs off a USB stick. It doesn't appear that I can select USB devices from the virtual machine's bios boot menu. Any idea how I could do this?

Thanks,

Todd

You can't because the BIOS doesn't support it!

It's been avaiable on PC for years! I think it's time vmware caught up to modern bios if they claim to be able to emulate modern platforms.

Virtual hardware is based on a 440BXII Pentium 2 motherboard. The BIOS of that time did NOT have USB boot. Changing the BIOS would likely impact other aspects of the virtual machines that VMWare is not ready to address at this time. (e.g.: compatibility and portability amongst different versions of VMWare products.)

(Just curious: does any other virtualization product from any other vendor have support for direct USB boot? Must be supported by manufacturer, not a hack or workaround.)
