Does Unity Mode Work in VMware Fusion 7.1.1 with Windows 7 and Yosemite?
I find that Unity Mode is greyed out and not accessible.
Thanks for any tips on how to use Unity Mode in VMware Fusion 7.1.1.
Maybe you've fixed this by now, but I noticed it depended on the version of Yosemite, and also the version of Windows you were running inside the VM. Right now, I can run unity in a WIN 8.1 Pro VM in the latest Yosemite. But if I try and run a WIN 10 TP Build 10049 VM on that same machine, unity produces and error. Sure would like to see a patch or fix
I have the latest updates for Windows 7 and Yosemite.
Too bad Unity Mode doesn't work in Windows 7.
Hi, schwine,
Thanks for using Fusion, and sorry for the issue that bothers you.
To help investigate the problem, could you please kindly provide more detailed information about your host?
Thanks
Candy
Hi Candy,
Information on my host is included as a screenshot with this thread posting.
Note that Unity Mode worked when I used the Mavericks operating system,
but this option in VMware Fusion 7.1.1 stopped working when I upgraded to
the Yosemite OS X. Since the only recent change in my computer setup is
the Yosemite OS X, it's logical that the problem is with Yosemite itself.
Perhaps the technical support staff with VMware Fusion can work on making
this software compatible with the Yosemite OS X in terms of using the Unity Mode.
Other VMware Fusion 7.1.1 users are also reporting problems with the Unity Mode
option in Yosemite. I don't have plans to upgrade to Windows 8, so I am hoping that
VMware Fusion technical support can make version 7.1.1 work with Windows 7 and
Yosemite concerning the Unity Mode option.
Hi schwine,
Could you try to uninstall the tools in your vm(Control Panel->Programs and Features->VMware tools)and then re-install it (Virtual Machine->Reinstall VMware tools)?
Thanks
Candy
