Guest OS claims disk full at <20GB, Settings set for 320GB

  • VMWare Fusion 12.1.2
  • Host macOS 10.15.7
  • Guest OS Ubuntu 22.04

The VM resides in a Mac disk partition of 500GB with 476 still available.

The VMWare Settings are set to all 320 GB to the VM.

Ubuntu thinks it has only 18GB, and is now claiming it is full.

I thought VMWare would auto size the Ubuntu hard disk automatically? I see no way to force the Ubunutu disk space bigger. See screenshot for disk details.

Ideas? Thanks for your time.

Fusion resized the virtual disk.  You have to use Ubuntu's partition utilities to expand the partition on that disk.

Thank you. That was enough to get me searching for the right thing (expand ubuntu partition).

In case it helps others, amongst other articles, I used this as a guide.
