How do you get a shared folder icon?

Hello

I would like to use the Shared Folder feature in Fusion ver 8.0.

So far, I have created a Windows 10 Pro VM and followed the instructions given for Windows at VMware KB: Sharing a folder from your Mac to a virtual machine

However, the Shared folder that is supposed to be created after turning on the Shared Folder option will not show up on the Windows 10 Desktop,

although Enable Shared Folders as well as a few folders under Mirrored Folders are checked.

Why is the Shared Folder shortcut not showing, and is there a way to force the shortcut to show?

Hi nutzernutzer,

Welcome to Fusion community!

Please make sure that your VMware Tools has been installed in guest first. Shared folder can't work without VMware Tools.

Regards,

Amanda

Thank you. The icon for Shared Folders showed up on the Desktop straight after installing the tools.

I didn't know that Fusion does not prompt you to install the tools like Workstation.
